The job of the pilot requires skills of very high value and is very specialised. The course imparts knowledge of air navigation, how to lead aircraft under extreme and adverse circumstances, interpretation of meteorological reports, operating electronic and mechanical controls.
EligibilityCandidates who have passed Class 12 from Science Stream (with PCM) and a minimum aggregate of 45-50% marks from a recognized board can apply
ProcedureStep 1:
To become a commercial pilot in India, candidates first have to possess a Student Pilot License (SPL).
Age Criteria: Candidate must be minimum 16 years of age to register for a flying club which is recognized by DGCA- Directorate General of Civil Aviation, Govt. Of India.
Registration: Candidates need to provide a medical certificate, bank guarantee and security clearance.
Entrance Examination: To obtain SPL authority conduct an oral examination in subjects such as Air Navigation, Aviation Meteorology and Air Regulation- Specific & Technical.
Step 2:
After obtaining SPL, the candidate has to go through Private Pilot Training (PPL). It involves sixty hours of flying out of which fifteen hours are for dual flights ( accompanied by an instructor) and 30 hours of solo flights.
Age Requirement: The minimum age requirement for the course is 17 years.
Educational Qualification: 10+2 and medical certificate issued by the Armed Forces Central Medical Establishment 
Duration 4-5 years (depending on flying hours)
